Generator Technician

Description

Superior Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing, Inc. is a statewide service provider specializing in retail skilled trade services. We are currently seeking Generator Technicians to join our Southern California division. As a Generator Technician, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial stationary backup generators to ensure optimal performance. This role includes a two-week training period, ongoing managerial support, and a Monday through Friday schedule.  Technicians are provided with a company vehicle and are permitted to begin their service routes from their home address or designated location. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of recent experience performing mechanical preventive maintenance and repairs on stationary generators, with a solid understanding of commercial electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform regularly scheduled maintenance and diagnostic procedures on generators of all sizes
• Conduct load bank testing
• Complete scheduled generator preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs 
• Document all tests and findings from 85-point inspections to provide feedback to customers
• Perform engine repairs and conduct electrical troubleshooting; diagnose and assess electrical problems using electrical schematics
• Assist other technicians, train junior team members and learn from more experienced technicians
• Gather and present information to customers on work performed and/or needed repairs
• Provide end user training, as necessary, on how to operate equipment
• Maintain compliance with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures

Requirements

• A minimum of three years of recent experience performing generator maintenance or similar mechanical role
• Basic knowledge of commercial electrical safety protocols 
• Pass a pre-employment drug test 
• Must be able to pass a motor vehicle background check, defined as having no more than two points on your driving record
• Proficient English communication skills to write reports and emails
• Possess hand tools to perform the mechanical work and voltage tests
• Willing to commute to various jobsites using company vehicles
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
