Geotechnical Engineer

Seeking a Senior-Level Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager in Washington, DC. This role involves managing staff and overseeing the completion of multiple concurrent projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in geotechnical investigations, construction observation, and testing, with a strong understanding of local geological conditions and engineering principles.

Salary: $95,000 – $130,000 (Based on relevant experience and education)

• Manage geotechnical projects from start to finish, including staff oversight and scheduling
• Perform and review geotechnical explorations and construction observation/testing
• Conduct subsurface investigations (borings and test pits), and review exploration logs, lab results, and plans
• Calculate:
  • Bearing capacity

• • Settlement
  • Earth pressures
  • Pavement section design
  • Slope stability
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports
• Provide field troubleshooting and support for soil-related issues on construction sites
• Design retaining walls and other geotechnical structures
• Perform materials testing and manage client relationships
• Prepare and review proposals and invoices
• Participate in collections and budget monitoring
• Estimate manpower needs and assign work to meet project deadlines
• Lead teams on both routine and complex projects
• Stay up to date with local methods, regulations, and industry best practices
• Proactively develop and maintain client relationships
• Support business development and market research initiatives

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
• 8+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience
• Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines
• AutoCAD experience preferred
