Summary:
Tetra Tech is currently seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join its U.S.-based geotechnical team. The position location is flexible with remote work opportunities available for an experienced engineer.
The Geotechnical Project Engineer will provide project investigation and engineering design services under the supervision of a senior geotechnical engineer. Projects will be focused on Tetra Tech’s renewable energy market sector practice but may also involve other market sector clients as the need presents itself. Market segments we work in include renewable energy, industrial manufacturing, public and private infrastructure, environmental cleanup sites, mine development and reclamation, and oil and gas. Typical geotechnical projects touch the entire spectrum of geotechnical engineering, including; geologic hazard studies and mitigation, soil and rock slope stability analyses, waste containment design, horizontal directional drill (HDD) design, shallow and deep foundation design, bridge and highway corridor design, pavement section design, field instrumentation and monitoring, deep foundation load testing, and construction oversight and materials inspection. Success in this role will initially be measured by efficiently evaluating geotechnical field data and preparing detailed foundation designs for utility-scale solar energy generating facilities.

Your Role:
Management of tasks and projects in compliance with client contracted scope, schedule and budget agreements.
Proactive identification of impending out of scope conditions, bring them to the attention of the lead Tetra Tech engineer, and assist in the development of solutions to mitigate project impacts.
Participate in field investigations and prepare reports of findings.
Prepare preliminary and detailed designs and specifications.
Assist in preparing budgets and scopes of work.
Provide support to multidisciplinary teams.
Provide leadership and mentoring to more junior team members.
Represent Tetra Tech in a professional and technically adept manner to clients and regulators.
Perform work in a thoughtful and safe manner in compliance with Tetra Tech’s safety protocols.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
BS/BE degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus, is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
8-13 years’ experience working on relevant geotechnical or closely related projects.
P.E. license is desirable.
Strong working knowledge of industry codes and standards.
Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized reports and engineering calculations and analysis.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Proficiency with Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Working knowledge of specialized geotechnical software programs is a plus.
Ability to travel and perform field work (approx. 25% travel required).
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing over 50lbs.
A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Target salary range: 90K to 105K
