Gift Shop Clerk-Full-time 32 hours per week

Position Overview:

The Gift Shop Clerk plays a key role in creating unparalleled customer experiences by managing daily operations of the gift shop at Basin St. Station. This position focuses on delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining the shop’s appearance, and ensuring accurate and efficient sales transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

Guest Services

• Provide professional and congenial customer service to all guests.
• Offer information and assistance to enhance gift shop sales.
• Proactively address and resolve guest concerns or escalate them to the Gift Shop Manager.

Gift Shop Duties

• Operate the gift shop as scheduled, maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment.
• Label, display, and restock merchandise as directed by the Gift Shop Manager.
• Process transactions accurately using the Point of Sale system.
• Assist with inventory management and promotional item displays.
• Maintain the cash drawer securely and prepare end-of-day reports and deposits.

Safety & Security

• Monitor traffic and activity in the gift shop to deter theft.
• Follow all safety and security protocols, including proper handling of cash and store merchandise.

Other Responsibilities

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Gift Shop Manager.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult or emotional situations calmly and professionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math proficiency for handling cash and managing sales transactions.
• Familiarity with computer systems, including Point of Sale systems.
• Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, and move throughout the shift.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 30 pounds.
