Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills and social emotional learning through a youth development curriculum that includes dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. You can find Girls on the Run programs in schools and communities in Greater Atlanta, North Georgia and Athens.
Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Development Director and consistent with the mission of Girls on the Run, the Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting our fundraising efforts by raising funds from individuals and special events. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in the Greater Atlanta area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Individual Giving & Donor Stewardship
Manage the donor acknowledgment process, including sending timely thank-you emails, handwritten notes, and making appreciation calls to recognize donor contributions.
Maintain and update donor records, ensuring accurate and consistent data entry in the database.
Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to support digital fundraising campaigns and contribute to development-related social media and blog content.
Perform prospect research as assigned.
Grants Management
Oversee the grants calendar to ensure timely submission of proposals, reports, and stewardship communications.
Conduct research to identify prospective funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
Support the grant application process, including writing, editing, and compiling proposals and reports as needed.
Peer to Peer Fundraising
Serve as the primary point of contact for the SoleMates program and other peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives.
Develop and implement strategies to grow the SoleMates program, with a focus on key endurance events such as the Peachtree Road Race, 14er Challenge, Boston Marathon, NYC Marathon, and Chicago Marathon.
Manage all stewardship touchpoints to ensure peer-to-peer fundraisers feel supported, appreciated, and engaged throughout their fundraising journey.
Event and Donor Engagement Support
Oversee administrative aspects of fundraising and stewardship events, including the creation of digital campaigns, mailing lists, RSVP tracking, and donor communications.
Support the fundraising efforts of the Girls on the Run 5K including registration donations, peer to peer campaigns, inkind gifts, and sponsor fulfillment. Introduce new revenue streams from Girls on the Run 5K events.
Support the planning and execution of donor engagement and fundraising events by coordinating logistics, and assisting with post-event follow-up and stewardship.
Provide development support for Young Professionals Board fundraising initiatives, including event coordination and donor outreach.
Organizational Support
Serve as a role model for Girls on the Run, exhibiting GOTR core values and working to achieve the GOTR mission.
Attend and work special events for the organization and/or community events to help raise awareness of organization, or in support of a community partnership as needed.
Coordinate and attend program events including site support visits, info meetings, coach training and the Girls on the Run 5K. Includes some evenings and weekends.
Develop positive relationships with volunteers, Board members, community members, school personnel and staff.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
1-2 years’ experience in fundraising or event planning at a nonprofit organization.
Experience with donor databases or CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or Little Green Light).
Customer service or administrative background with strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
Experience supporting logistics for events, mailings, or donor communications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Basic knowledge of Canva or other design tools is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Interest in philanthropy, equity, and community-centered work.
Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing is a plus.
Experience in sales (retail, inside sales).
The salary range for this position is $40,000-$50,000. In addition, Girls on the Run offers an attractive benefits package including professional development funds; retirement plan with employer match; medical, dental and vision insurance; performance-based bonus plan; nine paid holidays and 20 days’ vacation annually.
