JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, develops and maintains large, complex multi-layered digital spatial data sets for the County Geographic Information Systems (GIS); maintains GIS data servers and provides technical expertise in developing specialized application solutions; assists the Information Technology (IT) Department in providing support and training to users.
Example of Duties

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Develops and maintains the GIS program database; maintains and organizes cadastral and digital spatial GIS data sets utilizing coordinate geometry and land survey mapping techniques; analyzes and updates component layers and structure of GIS data.
Maintains GIS servers to manipulate, integrate, and compile data; manages database functions to maintain efficiency.
Assists with the continuous development, operation and maintenance of the GIS environment, including components of the system database, system hardware and software, and system design.
Maintains the master reference grid that contains geodetic control points used for registering geographic data, locations and addresses; coordinates and resolves technical issues; evaluates and corrects new data sets.
Compiles geographic data from a variety of sources; scans, rectifies, and digitizes data; edits and refines GIS data, and updates database; performs quality control checks to assure data integrity.
Manages GIS projects and enhancements; serves as a subject matter specialist on GIS; provides technical support, training and assistance to County staff.
Produces special purpose maps and models for County departments; determines and executes the appropriate sequence of data processing tasks; uses established GIS software programs, commands, programming languages and compilation methods to generate, process, manipulate and manage spatial data to create models and maps.

Perform other related duties as required.
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Developing, manipulating, and analyzing geographic information in a variety of data formats and projections.
Understanding, evaluating and integrating data from multiple public and private sources.
Interpreting technical instructions, analyzing complex variables, and presenting technical and statistical information in reports.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Engineering, or related field
Three (3) years' experience developing and maintaining a spatial database in an ESRI GIS environment.
Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications :
Valid Arizona State Driver's License.
Experience with ArcGIS Desktop 10.x
Experience in ArcGIS Server 10.x
Experience with ArcGISOnline

Skilled in interpreting and completing technical instructions and complex variables.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to working independently in a technical environment with interlinked and changing priorities.
Ability to effectively communicate concerning the GIS environment and related processes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Independent body mobility to stand, walk, bend, and sit for prolonged periods of time and/or drive a vehicle. Manual dexterity to reach, and grasp; manual dexterity to hand write or use computer keyboard; vision sufficient to see/read; hear and speak to communicate with customers in person and over the phone. Position is located in an indoor office environment.
