Job Description - GIS Technician

As a GIS Technician, you’ll assist with applying principles and techniques of GIS technologies to municipal utility infrastructure solutions. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and be supported by an empowered ownership culture that gives every team member a voice.

Goals & Responsibilities


This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:



  • Create maps and summarize spatial data using ArcGIS Pro software

  • Support data collection, processing, and analysis for municipal infrastructure projects

  • Use editing techniques to update and maintain spatial datasets; assist with geodatabase management and file organization

  • Perform quality assurance and data verification tasks

  • Provide general support to senior GIS staff and project managers



Qualifications & Skills


The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:



  • Certificate, associate or bachelor’s degree in a GIS, Geography, or related degree program

  • 1-2 years of GIS related experience preferred

  • Proficient with ArcGIS software or similar platforms

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Familiarity of coordinate systems, projections, and surveying principles

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret graphical documents such as as-built utility drawings

  • Understanding of surveying principles and practices; familiarity with CAD software is a plus
