What role you will play in our team

The Global Logistics organization is primarily accountable for logistics strategy, business processes and associated technology enablement recommendations, and logistics capability development and deployment. It is organized by transportation mode / clusters and also includes the global trade compliance group. It drives value through modal scale and integration across the corporation and value chains. The teams under Global Logistics include Global Marine (bulk liquids), Rail, Packaged (truck, warehouse, and marine container), Pipeline & Terminal, Infield (upstream assets and global projects), Trade Compliance and Strategy (governance, read-across). Key interfaces include logistics execution teams, commercial partners (internal & external), business ventures & projects, network and supply chain enablement.

The Global Logistics Projects Advisor will work directly on complex studies and initiatives that are primarily cross-modal in nature and / or in support of growth business ventures & projects.

In addition, this position will also be required to support the development and deployment of best practices, methods and tools that drive effective and efficient strategy development across logistics teams and with key partners - driving towards excellence in logistics capability development and deployment. This includes support across the full cycle of situational assessment, strategy development and evaluation, stakeholder alignment, execution, value delivery and reappraisal.

Primary interfaces will be logistics modal teams (coverage and value leads, strategy advisors and process managers/advisors), business ventures & projects, network (study analytics and enhancements), internal commercial Partners (e.g. Procurement, Global Trading, etc.) and suppliers.

The position will be based in Houston and may require occasional business travel for global initiative support (potential for developing countries, new operating areas, and established areas).

What you will do

Conduct and support complex logistics studies for both ongoing and upcoming business requirements; apply prior experience across various modes, markets and archetypes
Provide recommendations for optimizing logistics operating models (e.g. End-to-end product flows, domestic/export/import models, footprint/location recommendations, cost/value assessments, etc.)
Primary point of contact for Supply Chain Business Ventures and Projects requiring Logistics capability support
Identify cross-modal value opportunities; to be assessed and prioritized via the supply chain portfolio process
Support development of standard processes and tools to improve cycle time for strategy development and studies (i.e. from situation analysis to implementation) to maximize corporate value delivery
Drive focus in the areas of highest value delivery potential for logistics - commercial, supplier management, harmonized business processes / systems (for execution) and integrated performance management (KPIs, benchmarking).
Ensure adequate stakeholder engagement from interfaces/partners; drive speed and quality of decision making
Where required, engage 3rd party consultants to support studies, including adequate scope development and oversight
Display visible leadership as we progress the evolution of ExxonMobil Supply Chain and the Global Logistics organization

Champion the operating model across the organization; create compelling case for supply chain excellence
Identify and pursue value opportunities that leverage supply chain corporate scale and integration
Promote innovation and reward calculated risks from the supply chain teams that pursue corporate value opportunities
Actively mentor across Global Logistics teams and broader supply chain resources

About you

Skills and Qualifications

15+ years of supply chain experience across a variety of disciplines (logistics, sales and operations planning, materials management, network design and analytics, etc.); ideally with some prior petrochemical industry exposure
Demonstrated ability to develop and drive business strategies for complex business requirements and capture / retain value
Prior experience with multi-modal (e.g. various truck types, warehouse, drayage, marine container, bulk marine, pipeline, terminal, intermodal, etc.) product movements for both domestic and export business models; international experience an asset
Possess strong industry relationships with global and regional suppliers; knowledge of competitor landscape an asset
Prior experience and demonstrated results in commercially-focused roles (e.g. procurement/acquisitions, business development, sales, etc.) is preferred. Able to demonstrate achieving lowest cost for the chosen service level
Strong organizational management skill required; although this role has no direct reports, it requires strong influencing and interpersonal skills and is part of the potential development path for supervisory roles; prior supervisory experience preferred
Team player with ability to organize and coordinate activities of others; identifying need for discipline expertise / input where required
Strong interpersonal skill; courage of conviction on key issues, managing tension, fostering decision making
