Overview of Company & Role:

Australian Laboratory Services (ALS) is a publicly listed laboratory-based testing services company that provides a diversified line of independent analytical services to a range of customers in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, environmental, and food industries. Their diverse laboratories perform routine and specialty analytical testing for compliance, safety, certification, and verification purposes. ALS employs 15,000+ staff across 65+ countries globally. The company is focused on initiatives to improve Total Shareholder Return, of which strengthening the procurement and supply chain function is at the highest priority in the short term.

This role will oversee the strategy, coordination, and development for all Procurement & Supply Chain agreements globally. Scope of Agreements could include a include a mix of Administration and Corporate needs (Phones, Travel, IT, Copiers, etc), Laboratory Items (consumables, chemicals, safety supplies, gasses, etc), Capital Assets (Instruments, Vehicle Fleet), and Services (Maintenance, freight, utilities, etc). The role directly reports to the Global Procurement & Supply Chain Director and routinely interacts with regional procurement and supply chain leaders, operations, finance, and other management personnel.

Responsibilities

About you:
  • Coordinate with Regional Procurement & Supply Chain leaders and other business leaders to develop and implement an overall strategy for the following:
  • Identifying, consolidating, and organizing existing Procurement vendor agreements at regional and global level,
  • Aligning an annual schedule for when vendor agreements will be developed and updated at both regional and global level,
  • Leading the effort to identify, develop, negotiate, and issue new vendor agreements for key categories.
  • Develop standardized forms, templates, and procedures for all aspects of agreement development and management.
  • Consolidate existing vendor agreements in central storage location with categorization and searchability to provide ability to view and leverage existing agreements across other regions.
  • Implement schedule and methods for aligning vendor pricing updates annually - to allow negotiation of multiple regions / global at the same time.
  • Engage with Vendors to determine suitability for inclusion in agreements at regional or global level.
  • Review existing agreements, spend data, demand levels, item standardization efforts to identify opportunities to improve spend by implementing new or expanded agreements.
  • Create and lead RFP processes for a variety of agreements simultaneously, preparing evaluations and recommendations for approval of business leaders.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate Procurement Agreements with vendors, engaging with others in the business for input as needed.
  • Constant focus on standardization, consolidation and reduction of Items and Vendors to improve efficiency and leverage of spend.
  • Implement innovative commercial and contracting strategies to solve business needs.
  • Provide training to personnel that will assist with agreement development, maintenance, and usage.
  • Support the development and implementation of Oracle cloud ERP system as the primary method for communicating and standardizing vendor items and pricing agreements.
  • Follow and promote the company's health, safety and sustainability requirements and culture.
  • Represent the procurement and supply chain function in meetings with other business areas and regional / global leadership.
  • Set respective KPIs and ensure adherence, performance measurement and target achievement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, evaluation, and critical thinking skills
  • Effective analysis skills to evaluate data from a variety of sources to guide strategic recommendations
  • Effective negotiator and influencer at all levels of organizations - both internal & external parties
  • Comprehension of various contract terms and conditions language and ability to negotiate terms with limited legal support
  • Sound judgement skills to ensure efficient and practical approach to problems
  • Solid understanding of Item Catalog Management, Vendor Management, Procurement to Payment Process
  • Focus on continuous improvement of the procurement and supply chain function.
  • Open to feedback and self-improvement
  • Advanced Computer Skills - Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Teams and MS Office
  • Organized and able to multi-task between many goals, strategies, and deadlines
Required Qualifications:
  • 7-10+ years of Procurement, Contracting or Category Management experience in progressively advancing roles.
  • BA or BS degree in Supply Chain, Business, Technical / Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Demonstrated record of ability to implement continuous improvement ideas that deliver savings, efficiency and optimization of capabilities.
  • International business experience across a variety of regions and cultures
  • Oracle software experience preferred.
  • Laboratory, Inspection, or Science-based product knowledge preferred.
