Job Description - GM Warranty Administrator





Description

The GM Warranty administrator is responsible for processing all GM warranty claims from end-to-end, ensuring compliance with GM’s warranty guidelines and company policies and procedures.

 

  

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as main point of contact for all GM warranty issues or disputes.
  • Partners with service advisors, technicians, and parts advisors/team to resolve claim questions or disputes.
  • Submits, track and manage warranty claims on a timely basis and maintains detailed record of each claim.
  • Processes all warranty paperwork including repair orders, parts & labor documentation.
  • Reconciles all warranty receivables with payments through the appropriate accounting schedule.
  • Posts credits on computer, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Resubmits all rejected claims promptly and processes as Company or GM’s requirements.
  • Follows up on payment of outstanding claims or discrepancies.
  • Tracks warranty parts by tagging with repair order number, date of replacement and date on which part may be disposed of.
  • Provides regular reporting to the Service Department and Fixed Ops Director.
  • Analyzes warranty-related expenses and identifies areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Supports the service department with periodic training on GM’s warranty requirements, procedures and documentation.
  • Files and maintains all service records as required by GMC.
  • Stays current on all GM recalls and bulletins.
  • Assists with the cashier and telephone duties as needed.
  • Assists with any clerical needs as directed by the fixed operations manager or the controller.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned by Management.

  

Education/Requirements

  •  High School Diploma.
  • 2+ Years experience in working with automotive dealerships as warranty administrator.
  • Strong knowledge of GM Systems, products and guidelines required.
  • Strong knowledge of warranty terms and compliance required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word,) required.
  • Previous experience of working with CDK software highly preferred.
  • 1+ years working with third party vendors on reconciling warranty information.
  • Ability to demonstrate proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
