Golf Grounds Superintendent

The Resort at Longboat Key Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Golf Grounds Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and care of our premier golf course located in Longboat Key, FL. The courses at Longboat Key Club are ranked among the finest golf courses and have earned Golf Digest's prestigious "Best Places to Play" award. This role demands a strong background in turfgrass management, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining world-class golf course conditions to enhance both playability and aesthetic appeal.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain all turfgrass areas including greens, tees, fairways, and roughs to ensure optimal playing conditions.


• Develop and implement cultural practices such as mowing, fertilization, irrigation, aerification, topdressing, and pest control.


• Supervise, train, and motivate grounds staff to maintain high standards of course care and safety.


• Coordinate and schedule maintenance tasks to minimize disruption to play and club events.


• Work within a budget to prioritize needs and achieve company goals.


• Manage golf course equipment and inventory, ensuring proper upkeep and repair.


• Collaborate with club management and golf professionals to meet member expectations and support special events.


• Monitor weather and turf conditions and adjust maintenance practices accordingly.


• Maintain compliance with all environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience at a top-tier, nationally recognized course or equivalent luxury facility is required.


• Proven experience as a Golf Grounds Superintendent or similar role within golf course maintenance.


• Strong knowledge of turfgrass science, pest management, irrigation systems, and equipment maintenance.


• Ability to lead and manage a diverse team effectively.


• Excellent organizational and communication skills.


• Relevant certifications in turf management or agronomy preferred.


• Availability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.


• Valid driver’s license.


• English & Spanish speaker preferred but not required.
