FLSA Status: Non-exempt, hourly
Organization Summary
Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. GOTR is a physical activity-based positive youth development (PA-PYD) program that is designed to support participants’ social, psychological and physical wellbeing.
GOTR teams meet twice weekly at school and park sites for eight weeks. Each team is formed by a “site liaison” – including caregivers, school personnel and volunteers – who are committed to offering GOTR in their community. Trained volunteer coaches impart life skills using a curriculum that combines interactive lessons and physical activity. The season concludes with a celebratory 5K event, which provides a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals.
