Gary’s Wine & Marketplace is looking for a dedicated Gourmet Team Lead to lead the day-to-day operations of our Gourmet/Deli department. This role centers on hands-on leadership within the department, ensuring high standards of product quality, presentation, and customer engagement while supporting and mentoring the gourmet team.
The ideal candidate is deeply passionate about gourmet food, confident working on the sales floor, and enjoys sharing product knowledge with customers in a fast-paced retail setting.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the Gourmet/Deli team to ensure smooth daily operations and exceptional customer service
Take ownership of the Gourmet department’s daily workflow, organization, and presentation
Use strong product knowledge to assist guests with gourmet selections, including cheese pairings with wine, beer, and spirits
Help customers curate personalized gift baskets and gourmet assortments
Ensure proper stock rotation, product freshness, labeling, and removal of expired items
Maintain attractive, well-organized displays and merchandising standards
Train, mentor, and support team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Stay informed on trends in gourmet foods and share knowledge with the team
Communicate department needs, challenges, and opportunities clearly to store leadership
Passion for gourmet food, including cheese, specialty foods, and thoughtful pairings
Proven customer service and communication skills with a focus on creating memorable guest experiences
Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership potential in a retail or food-service environment
Strong attention to detail and a proactive, hands-on approach
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
Basic computer skills for inventory, scheduling, and internal communication
Reliable team player with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods
Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Must be at least 18 years old
