The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a 41 bed Level IV critical care unit. NICU nurses are experienced in caring for premature infants, a variety of different acute and chronic disease processes as well as pediatric surgeries. NICU nurses are Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certified. The NICU collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and a variety of specialists including pediatric surgery, pediatric cardiologists, pediatric neurology, pediatric urology, pediatric orthopedics and palliative care. The NICU houses the NICU/Pediatric transport team which receives special training. Our transport team transports neonates/infants from a 350-mile radius. The nurses in the NICU thrive on a teamwork environment and provide the highest quality of care to their patients and families.

Assesses, implements or delegates, plans, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in accordance with established philosophy, providing and directing patient care for a group of patients. Relates effectively with other shifts/departments for optimal continuity of care.

Qualifications:

-Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
-Valid Texas GN Permit or newly licensed RN with no experience
-BSN required or must be obtained within 3 years of hire
-Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association
-Must obtain a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from
American Academy of Pediatrics upon hire
