Grain Mill Operator

The Grain Mill Operator will actively monitor operations to ensure quality control and maintain smooth operation. They will also be responsible for running and maintaining boilers, and roller mills, and performing preventative maintenance. This position will be responsible for assisting with all operations including operating a loader.  Responsible for ensuring the output of high-quality flaked grains. Follow safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in compliance with feed safety regulations. Document production data, equipment performance, and inventory levels. Monitor grain and product inventory, ensuring proper storage to prevent spoilage. This position reports to the Elevator Manager.

TITLE: Grain Mill Operator

POSITION PURPOSE:

Overview of the role: Operate and maintain grain milling and steam equipment to process grains into flakes. Key objectives: Ensure efficient production, maintain product quality, and adhere to safety and sanitation standards. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Closely watch operations to maintain flaked grain quality and production output


• Operate loader 


• Assist in receiving commodities and determining moisture content


• Participate in daily repairs and maintenance of the grain elevator


• Comply with all FDA, OSHA, HACCP, and other safety procedures, rules, and regulations


• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance


• Quality Control

• Recordkeeping


• Inventory Management 


• Other duties as assigned                                   

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good verbal and written communication skills


• Basic math skills


• Keen attention to detail


• Good time management skills


• Mechanical aptitude for operating an trouble shooting equipment


• Ability to work in fast paced environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred


• OR previous experience in grain milling, food processing or machine operation and/or training preferred

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
