Summary Job Goal: The Grant Writer supports AVCP’s funding strategy by researching funding opportunities and developing clear, compelling, and compliant grant proposals and related materials. Working under the direction of the Grants & Compliance function, this position partners with program and finance staff to translate organizational priorities into funder-aligned narratives, work plans, and attachments, and helps ensure grant submissions and related documentation meet internal review requirements and funder deadlines.
Note: This position does not have authority to submit grant applications or accept/execute award agreements without the required internal approvals. Grant applications are submitted only after review and approval as required by AVCP Grants & Compliance policies, and grant awards are accepted/executed only by the CEO or an authorized designee. The Grant Writer supports proposal development and documentation but does not authorize financial commitments, matching/cost-share commitments, or budget modifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
May provide functional guidance and coordination support to staff contributing to proposal development (e.g., collecting inputs, establishing internal deadlines, and consolidating materials) under the direction of the Grants & Compliance Director.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum two (2) years of professional grant writing and grants development experience preferred, including preparing proposals for government and/or private funders. Experience working with Alaska Native organizations, tribal entities, rural communities, or human services programs strongly preferred.
