Job Description
The Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine has an excellent opportunity for a temporary Grants and Contracts Manager. This position oversees and facilitates the clinical research, translational and basic science research programs in the Division of Nephrology, including the Kidney Research Institute (KRI).
The Grants and Contracts Manager (GCM) is responsible for pre- and post-award administration for the Division of Nephrology, which includes the Kidney Research Institute. The GCM works directly with the Administrator, the Division Head, and the Director of the KRI, and provides research management expertise, review and execution of grants, contracts and subcontracts. The position has responsibility for ensuring the regulatory and fiscal accountability of the research enterprise and provides counsel to faculty and staff concerning administrative, research and fiscal processes associated with the research conducted. The GCM serves as the administrative liaison with multiple internal and external partners including offices and departments within the University of Washington and Veterans Health Administration, as well as sponsoring agencies including the National Kidney Foundation, American Society of Nephrology, Department of Defense, and most significantly, the National Institutes of Health. The GCM will manage the execution and implementation of clinical trials conducted by faculty by facilitating review processes through the UW's Clinical Trials Office, the Office of Sponsored Programs and multiple private funding sponsors. The Division's research portfolio also includes a number of privately sponsored contracts which will be executed and managed by the GCM in close conjunction with the faculty researcher.

LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the lead for post-award operations for the Division of Nephrology. This position oversees a grants and finance team and functions as the expert resource for the KRI and Division research enterprise.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will supervise 3-4 FTE
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related discipline AND a minimum of four years of progressive related experience in a research, academic, or hospital setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
