Kids’ Food Basket | Grand Rapids

At Kids’ Food Basket, we believe healthy food is a right and not a privilege. Through sustainable farming, education, and community engagement, we’re building a future where every child has access to the nourishment they need to thrive.

Position Summary

This role leads financial compliance and reporting for federal, state, and private grants while managing biweekly payroll operations and labor allocations. Working across departments, the Grants & Payroll Manager provides financial insight, maintains regulatory compliance, supports audits, and helps ensure resources are used responsibly to maximize impact for the children and communities we serve.

· Develop grant budgets, monitor spending, and manage grant lifecycles from award through closeout.

· Review grant expenditures, prepare financial reports and reimbursement requests, and ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).

· Process biweekly payroll for approximately 50 employees in partnership with Human Resources.

· Manage payroll allocations, labor distributions, and time-and-effort reporting across funding sources.

· Support audits, strengthen internal controls, and provide financial analysis and guidance across the organization.

What You'll Bring

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Nonprofit/Public Administration, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

· Three or more years of experience with federal grants, cost allocations, and nonprofit grant compliance.

· Two or more years of payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, and labor allocation experience.

· Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, audits, payroll accounting, and compliance requirements.

· Advanced Excel skills and experience with Microsoft Office; fund accounting software experience preferred.

· Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills, with sound judgment and discretion.

Why You'll Thrive Here

· You enjoy combining detailed financial work with mission-driven impact on a growing team.

· You take ownership, work independently and collaboratively, and solve problems proactively.

· You value collaboration and building strong partnerships across teams.

· You bring a positive, solutions-focused mindset and embrace continuous improvement.

· You want your work to help create a more nourished future for children and families.

Why You'll Love It

· Make a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of children across West Michigan.

· Join a passionate, values-driven team committed to community impact.

· Use your financial expertise to support a mission that matters.

· Partner with colleagues across the organization to drive sustainable growth.

· Enjoy significant autonomy, trust, and ownership in your role.

· Help create lasting change through food, education, agriculture, and community connection.
