• Policy Advocacy. We advocate for federal, state and local policies that advance health equity.


• Network Building. Everything we do is done in collaboration with our nonprofit and grassroots partners.


• Policy Research. Our research focuses on studying and understanding disparities in health access, utilization and outcomes by race, ethnicity, language, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and immigration status.


• Storytelling helps us sustain attention, build trust and inspire action in and on behalf of our communities.

THE OPPORTUNITY

CPEHN is seeking a Grants Manager. This role may be a full-time staff or part-time consultant position depending on the candidate and their specific context.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Grants Manager is responsible for managing overall grant efforts by tracking ongoing grants, drafting proposals and reports, supporting research and programs, and being a thought partner on strategic grant opportunities. We are looking for someone to join our team who is passionate about health equity and has experience in grant reporting and proposal development and working with communities of color. This is a unique opportunity for someone to advance the scope of funding through a strong health equity lens while creating content as part of a team working to promote health equity for California’s communities of color.

We welcome applicants who have strong writing, proofreading, and project management skills, even if they have less experience with grants, provided they can learn the grants-specific skills on the job.

Key Job Duties:

• Maintain and grow partnerships with current funders to help them understand organizational needs


• Execute the preparation, submission, and management of grant proposals to governmental agencies and foundations


• Work closely with staff across the organization to prepare grant reports and support organization-wide research activities including data collection, evaluations and other qualitative and quantitative analyses


• Manage the seasonal grant reporting process and ensure the organization is set up for success outside of busier grant reporting months


• Maintain accurate information about funders, giving history, areas of interest, and grant tracking/reporting

Essential Skills:

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills grounded through an equity lens


• Strong writing and proofreading skills


• Strong time-management skills, including prioritization of multiple projects with conflicting deadlines


• Communicate effectively, persuasively and professionally, in both written and verbal forms, with a wide range of individuals, organizations, and funding sources


• Team player who understands when to work independently and when to lean on their colleagues


• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently with minimal supervision


• Cultural humility and ability to understand issues impacting all communities of color

Required Qualifications:

• At least 3-5 years of professional writing and proofreading experience (ex. Grant writing, proposal development, technical writing, etc.)


• At least 3-5 years of project management experience
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 2-3 years of experience working with grassroots community organizations


• Grant reporting and health background preferred

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$75,000 - $77,000. At CPEHN, we understand the importance of benefits and how they contribute to the overall well-being of our staff.
