GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK

The Grants Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing Senior Services’ mission by strategically managing the full life cycle of grant funding initiatives in alignment with the organization’s Strategic Plan. This includes proactively identifying grant opportunities, writing compelling proposals, ensuring cross-functional collaboration during planning and implementation, and maintaining rigorous compliance, reporting, and stewardship standards. This position also contributes to the agency’s fundraising efforts through work on the planned giving and major gifts programs.

This role requires a high level of initiative, organization, attention to detail, strategic thinking, collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners, and communication with donors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

·  Proactively increase annual grant revenue, targeting diverse funding streams (federal, state, local, corporate, and private foundations).

·  Identify, evaluate, and prioritize funding opportunities aligned with organizational goals and community impact.

·  Prepare and submit persuasive, data-driven, and tailored proposals that exceed funder expectations.

·  Collaborate with program, finance, and executive leadership to gather required inputs for planning and strategic direction and ensure seamless grant implementation.

·  Maintain full compliance with grant guidelines and deadlines; ensure timely submission of accurate reports and renewals.

·  Maintain accurate and organized records in the agency’s shared Grants folder, CRM (Neon-One), and Grant Inventory.

·  Work closely with the Marketing Director to cultivate and sustain strong relationships with funders through timely communication and recognition.

·  Develop relationships with major donors and contribute to fundraising activities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

·  Advanced research and analytical abilities to identify high-impact funding opportunities and use relevant data to support grant applications.

·  Superior written communication skills with a strong command of persuasive and technical writing.

·  Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

·  Skill in AI-assisted writing and data tools to optimize proposal development and accuracy.

·  Familiarity with budgeting principles and the ability to draft and interpret grant budgets.

·  Proficiency in Neon-One CRM within 6 months.

·  Capability to manage multiple deadline-driven projects with minimal supervision.

WORK DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL

•  Ability to stoop, lift, finger – for example pick, pinch, or type and grasp. 

•  Ability to clearly and concisely express and exchange detailed information and ideas to others accurately via spoken word

·  Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to

  lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

·   Ability to inspect and analyze figures, accounting items, written materials, newsprint,  

 computer terminal characters, transcription, and other similar objects at distances generally 

 close to the eyes. 

·   The worker is subject to a variety of inside environmental conditions that may occur in an  

 office, a private home, or elsewhere in the community including temperature variations,  

 unpleasant odors, and potential allergens.

·   Although work inside is the standard, it is required that the individual be able to travel and 

 may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Starting Salary Range: $60,000 to $75,000

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

·  Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Development, Communications, or a related field (required).

·  Master’s degree preferred.

·  Minimum of five years’ experience in successful grant writing and administration.

·  Proven record of securing grants from a variety of funders.

·  Familiarity with nonprofit membership-based organizations and donor databases.

·  Experience working with donors preferred.
