JOB PURPOSE:
As a Grants Specialist, you’ll collaborate with our Senior Grants Manager to manage all aspects of grant writing and funding efforts, from researching and crafting proposals to building relationships with grant-making organizations. You’ll take an active role in driving our mission forward by building lasting relationships with and securing funds from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
This position offers a unique opportunity to use your writing, research, and project management skills while playing an essential role in helping us solve hunger in our local communities. You’ll work closely with various departments, learn about nonprofit operations, and contribute to meaningful changes in our community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and write grant proposals to grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders. Assemble and submit grant requests, including letters of intent, proposals, budgets, and all necessary attachments.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to execute grant proposals, reports and other communication. Works closely with staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals.
- Support Senior Grants Manager with maintaining an accurate grant schedule to ensure timely submission of grant materials.
- Actively conduct grant prospect research and make suggestions to Senior Grants Manager on aligned opportunities.
- Maintain records for grant-making organizations in CRM database (Instrumentl, Rasier’s Edge).
- Inform Senior Grants Manager when grant awards are received and share pertinent information.
- Coordinate multiple projects at various stages of completion to keep them moving in a timely manner, meet all deadlines, and manage supplemental materials required for proposals. Stay in close contact with necessary departments throughout the grant period to ensure all aspects of the grant request are met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Commitment to understanding and supporting FAEW’s mission, vision, and effective actions to end food insecurity and its causes.
- Respect for the people FAEW serves and commitment to learn the causes of their food insecurity and need
- High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Exceptional written, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to evaluate data for reasonableness, necessity, and conformity with grant requirements.
- Demonstrated skills of providing effective training, presenting, project management, and attention to detail.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using Raiser’s Edge, Instrumental, or comparable donor CRM software a plus, but not required.
- Ability to work at a fast pace and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- A positive, team-oriented mindset with a "can-do" approach to supporting the organization, demonstrating cross-functional collaboration and a focus on developing solutions.
- Ability to work safely following FAEW safety procedures.
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be open-minded of differing opinions and views.
- Must have transportation to travel to worksites as needed and auto insurance.
