Job Description - Grants Writer / Administrator

About the team:

The Regulatory and Legal team works to support and direct all divisions and sections of the company internally and externally. From procedural guidance, to ensuring adherence to rules and regulations, statutes, reports, governmental, commercial, and subscriber interaction, the team helps to ensure the company is compliant and leading properly.

Who we are looking for:

Landmark national legislation has recently unlocked unprecedented levels of federal grant funding for telecommunications infrastructure, with a mission to ensure all American communities—and regional allies—have access to state-of-the-art, affordable broadband services. As a recipient of over $30 million in federal grant awards to date, GTA is establishing a Grants Writer / Administrator role within the Legal and Regulatory Division to lead the development, oversight, and management of current and future grant opportunities.

If this sounds like you, this is what the role looks like:
As the Grants Writer / Administrator, you will serve a dual purpose—developing persuasive grant proposals to secure funding, and managing the full grant lifecycle to ensure that all requirements, deadlines, and compliance standards are met. You'll be responsible for staying up to date on all grantor rules, regulations, and procedures, and ensuring that GTA adheres to them both internally across departments and externally with funding entities. Your work will help drive meaningful infrastructure improvements for our community through effective and responsible grant management.

  • Research, identify, and evaluate grant opportunities from federal, private, and corporate sources.

  • Write persuasive grant proposals, letters of intent, narratives, and funding applications aligned with organizational goals.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather data, budget details, and supporting documentation for submissions.

  • Develop impact statements and ensure proposals reflect funding agency priorities.

  • Maintain a funding calendar to track application deadlines and reporting schedules.

  • Ensure all grant activities comply with applicable rules, regulations, and reporting requirements.

  • Interpret and communicate grantor guidelines across internal departments.

  • Monitor the progress and fund utilization of awarded projects to ensure alignment with grant objectives.

  • Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports for internal management and external grantors.

  • Conduct internal audits and status reviews of funded initiatives.

  • Serve as a liaison between GTA, grantor entities, and any partner organizations.

  • Provide guidance and updates to leadership and staff on grant status, responsibilities, and deadlines.

  • Train staff or new hires in basic grant administration procedures when needed.

  • Develop and refine funding strategies that align with GTA’s strategic and business plans.

  • Build and maintain relationships with grantors and funding institutions.

  • Support corporate sponsorships and donor relations initiatives (preferred qualification).

  • Perform additional grant-related responsibilities and support special projects as assigned.

Candidates must show:

  • Ability to promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.

  • Product/Service knowledge: Remains up to date on the latest services and products we provide and has a clear understanding of how each work.

  • Customer centric: Puts the customer first and creates a positive experience for the customer by building relationships and maximizing service/product offerings. Stays current with knowledge of products clients require and can foresee their future technology needs

  • Accountability: Punctual and dependable to meet the needs of our customers. Has the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced changing environment.

  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Has the ability to assess an issue, provide creative solutions, and analyze if the solution was viable.

  • Organizational support: Ability to follow company policies and procedures in accordance with contract/agreement(s) and Company Goals, completes administrative tasks thoroughly, accurately, promptly, and efficiently as possible with respect to human resources, financial management and profitability.

  • Technical skills: Constantly strives to increase technical knowledge to improve training tools through latest product knowledge, industry knowledge, and research.

  • Growth and Learning: Is curious and understands that learning is a lifelong endeavor. You own your learning and development, and you are committed to evolving.

Here’s what you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in grant writing and/or grant administration with a proven track record of successful funding.

  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
