Greasemaker Apprentice

Description

The Grease Maker Apprentice performs a variety of tasks requiring knowledge and understanding of batch manufacturing processes in support of the manufacturing team. This position is responsible for monitoring and controlling large-scale kettles (200gal - 20,000gal) used to produce lubricating fluids and greases with oversight from a Grease Maker. The apprentice will gather raw materials, follow standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for blending, monitor equipment, and ensure product quality. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure personal and workplace safety.

2. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.

3. Perform   detail-oriented and precision work while multitasking in a fast-paced   environment.

4. Follow documented instructions, including SOPs and safety guidelines.

5. Assist with staging, measuring, and blending raw materials according to approved formulas and   processes.

6. Monitor and control kettles and equipment by reading meters, gauges, and digital readouts to   ensure proper operation.

7. Execute proper start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures for manufacturing equipment.

8. Flush lines after batches are completed to maintain equipment integrity and product quality.

9. Work closely with the lab for sample testing and batch approvals.

10. Understand and adhere to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory principles.

11. Assist with unloading raw materials received via railcar or tank truck.

12. Assist with loading tank trucks with finished products per SOPs and order specifications.

13. Operate a forklift to transport materials safely.

14. Participate actively in plant safety initiatives, training sessions, and programs.

15. Maintain punctuality by reporting to workstations on time, including after breaks and lunch.

16. Work a schedule of (5) full 8-hour workdays per week, with the ability to work overtime as needed.

17. Report all safety violations, mechanical issues, or material concerns to the Manager promptly.

18. Perform additional duties as required.

Hours: Monday thru Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm

Requirements

Education: 

Essential:

· High School diploma or GED

Previous Experience:

Desirable:

· Experience in manufacturing environment or blending 

· Forklift experience

· Working in a fast-paced environment
