About the Role:


The GreenLea Groundskeeping Team Leader provides training, supervision, and direct support to Groundskeeping Team Members to help them reach their maximum personal, vocational, and earning potential. This position ensures high-quality grounds maintenance services for GreenLea customers while supporting the mission of the Charles Lea Center by creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The Team Leader plays a critical role in maintaining safety, service excellence, and long-term sustainability of the business.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Promote, teach, and enforce a “Safety First and Always” culture in all aspects of work, including the use of tools, equipment, fuels, chemicals, lifting techniques, proper attire, and personal protective equipment.

  • Ensure Team Members are fully trained and approved before operating equipment independently or out of direct supervision.

  • Model professional conduct, safe work practices, teamwork, accountability, and strong work ethic at all times.


Training & Supervision



  • Train, coach, and monitor Team Members in accordance with Charles Lea Center direct care staff requirements.

  • Work alongside Team Members to model correct groundskeeping techniques and teamwork expectations.

  • Ensure supported Crew Members receive appropriate care, supervision, and support while on job sites, including awareness of medical, disability-related, health, and personal needs.


Groundskeeping Operations



  • Safely operate company vehicles, including driving trucks towing equipment trailers.

  • Perform and teach lawn maintenance using equipment such as zero-turn mowers, push mowers, string trimmers, and related tools.

  • Perform and train Team Members on trimming, edging, blowing, hedge trimming, pole saw use, and other contracted services.

  • Plan and execute seasonal and periodic services including fertilization, seeding, weed and pest control, aeration, planting, mulching, and ornamental landscaping.

  • Develop and execute overall grounds maintenance and beautification strategies.


Equipment & Inventory Management



  • Perform and teach routine equipment maintenance, including oil changes, filter and spark plug replacement, blade sharpening, and winterization.

  • Advocate for proper upkeep, care, and accountability of all tools and equipment.

  • Plan and manage storage, inventory, tracking, security, and reordering of supplies and equipment.

  • Ensure work areas, storage areas, and equipment are clean, stocked, organized, and professional in appearance.


Documentation & Compliance



  • Maintain accurate documentation related to Team Member time and attendance, training objectives, accountability verification, and program compliance.

  • Ensure all company policies, procedures, safety practices, and programs are consistently followed.

  • Document and report all incidents, injuries, and concerns according to policy.

  • Safeguard all confidential information related to Team Members and proprietary information of the Charles Lea Center and Center Ventures.


Communication & Continuous Improvement



  • Respond to customer, Team Member, and operational concerns with urgency and professionalism.

  • Communicate identified issues, improvement opportunities, and recommendations to supervisors.

  • Share lessons learned and best practices to improve team performance and overall business success.


Additional Responsibilities



  • Ensure Team Members have appropriate tools, equipment, attire, and adaptive solutions to minimize or overcome disability-related challenges.

  • Maintain communication equipment and ensure all devices are operable.

  • Provide support to new or emerging Center Ventures business initiatives as requested, with potential temporary pay adjustments based on added responsibilities.

  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability as job duties may change based on worksite, Crew Members, or business needs.


Working Conditions



  • Average 40 hours per week, primarily Monday–Friday; flexibility required based on operational needs.

  • Outdoor work environment with exposure to seasonal weather conditions.

  • Position requires physical activity and patience, empathy, and dedication to supporting individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.


Relationships & Contacts



  • Frequent interaction with supported individuals, Charles Lea Center departments, families, vendors, customers, and the public.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Safety & Leadership



What You’ll Need:



  • Minimum age: 18

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record per CLC Transportation Policy

  • Ability and willingness to transport supported individuals in company vehicles

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Ability to accurately measure and mix chemicals used in groundskeeping

  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to pass required background and reference checks



Physical Requirements: This role involves regular standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and hands-on support. Reasonable accommodations are available.
