Groover Lead

Responsible for overseeing the operation of cutting/grooving kerfs in wood panel products. Ensures that kerfs are made to specifications. Troubleshoot and determine product and machine issues. Requires mechanical knowledge of the Groover Machine and ability to fix various problems, including setup and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Producing high-quality finished goods and ensuring efficient and safe machine operation


• Inspecting equipment and performing basic adjustments and preventative maintenance when needed


• Following all Company Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)


• Direct team on setup and process.


• Set up and break down the groover.


• Read drawings or blueprints to set up blade assemblies for desired kerf grooves.


• Develop and recommend process improvements


• Preparing work schedules and assigning workers production line tasks.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to operate machinery


• Must be able to stand for long hours and be able to lift at or above the waist at a maximum of seventy pounds


• Previous experience in a manufacturing setting or a related position.


• Mechanical aptitude


• A great sense of humor


• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time


• Work independently with minimal supervision and resolve conflict in a professional manner.


• Ability to operate computers (or learn to do so)

Work Environment: Employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  Noise Level: Medium Loud

Position Type/Hours of Work: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Required Education and Experience

• High School Diploma/GED

Salary/Benefits:  FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Based on experience.
