Description

The Grounds and Land Application Maintenance (GLM) Technician is responsible for successfully executing work orders, tasks, trouble calls, and projects as directed by the GLM Team Leader in the following areas, grounds maintenance of industrial and residential property and land plots used for wastewater land application. The GLM Technician is also responsible for successfully supporting and pursuing process and training that have been designed to develop his/her growth opportunities and as well for always ensuring a safe and secure work environment that operates in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.  

Requirements

Able to work with no more than 50% supervision and to be a self-starter willing to make decisions limited to the job activities. Work scope to include, grounds maintenance of industrial and residential property, performing any combination of following tasks: Cut lawns, using hand mower or power mower. Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls, using clippers, weed cutters, and edging tools. Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs, using shears, prunes, or chain saw. Spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides, using hand or automatic sprayer.  Rakes and bags leaves, using rake. Cleans grounds and removes litter, using spiked stick or broom. Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, using gardening tools. Water lawn and shrubs, using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler systems.  Repair fences, gates, walls, and walks, using carpentry and masonry tools. Clean out drainage ditches, culverts, and rain gutters, using shovel and rake. May also perform ground maintenance duties, using tractor equipped with attachments, for example disks, scrapers/levelers, lime or fertilizer spreaders. Sharpen tools, for example weed cutters, edging tools, and shears, using file or knife sharpener. Performs basic preventive maintenance tasks on all equipment used. Perform variety of laboring duties common to type of employing establishment.

  • Mechanical skill in working with hand tools for mechanical disassembly and assembly.
  • Mechanical knowledge of tractors, backhoes, mowers, weed cutters, edger’s, chainsaws, week sprayers and lawn sprinkler systems.
  • Trouble-shooting competence in related subject matter.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, stand, bend, swat and stretch at various heights, confinement degrees, temperature ranges and atmospheric conditions enable by only the required safety equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma with at least 2-5 years’ experience in grounds maintenance relate position.
  • WCM experience is an added value.
  • Computerized Service Maintenance Management Software (CSMM) knowledge in an Industrial application

Equipment Operated: 

  • Welding and cutting torches
  • Multiple hand and power tools
  • Forklift and scissor lifts, including cherry picker

Physical Activity:

  • Regularly reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently climb, squat, bend, kneel, stand, walk/move about, and lift/carry/push/pull 25 lbs 
  • Occasionally Sit

Additional Compensation – Bonus Potential:  You will be eligible to participate in the Gehl Food & Beverage Bonus Program for non-exempt employees. Under this Program, quarterly and annual bonus payouts are based on achievement of targeted production numbers.  Gehl Foods, LLC reserves the right to change the Bonus Program at anytime, without notice. 

Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
