Grounds Keeper/Maintenance Assistant - Hiring Urgently

Don’t miss this opportunity to join our Environmental Services team! Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a part-time Environmental Services Grounds Keeper. The Grounds Keeper performs all phases of groundskeeping tasks to keep the facility in a neat and presentable condition. Performs minor maintenance and repairs of building and small equipment; and performs miscellaneous duties, including running errands and delivery services. The position available is:

• Part-time, Up to 38 hours per pay period, non-benefited

Essential Duties Include:

• Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance to hospital equipment (wheelchairs, carts, IV poles, etc.) as scheduled and as needed.
• Maintains facility grounds year-round – includes lawn, sidewalks, and parking lots.
• Operates and maintains all power equipment used for grounds maintenance, including but not limited to: riding lawnmowers, weed trimmers, snow blowers, Bobcat, etc.
• Schedules, deliveries, and pickup of grounds equipment for services & repair.
• Transports all types of refuse to proper medical waste storage or sanitary refuse storage.

Educational Qualifications:

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred
• Basic reading and comprehension skills are required
• Grounds-keeping experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Must possess some ability in general maintenance and have an interest in maintenance functions
• Previously acquired maintenance skills are beneficial
• Welding skills are beneficial
• Ability to use a variety of power equipment and hand tools
• Capable of performing a variety of duties (i.e., weeding, cutting, trimming, watering, painting, care of equipment, plowing, shoveling, etc.)
