Grounds Maintenance

We are currently seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for a Ground Maintenance Technician. The right individual will: Cut grass, using walking type or riding mowers. Maintains and cleans tools and equipment. Trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds and walls, using hedge trimmers, clippers, edging tools, chain saws, electric weed cutters and other mission required equipment after proper instructions. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools. Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs. Waters lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system. Picks up or carts away leaves, paper or other litter. Removes snow from walks, driveways, roads or parking lots, using shovel and snow blower. Spreads salt on walkways and other areas. Assists in repair of roads, walks, buildings and mechanical equipment.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have the ability to perform physically demanding work Knowledge of lawn equipment operation is desired. Must possess a valid state driver's license Must be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check.

Education: A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.

Requires the ability to position self to lift and carry groundskeeping supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis, prolonged walking or standing, and frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching on a daily basis.

Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual, electrically-powered and/or gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines. Requires the ability to access facilities and areas which may only be accessible by climbing stairs or by climbing ladders to a height of 20 feet (e.g., for tree trimming). Must be able to physically maneuver throughout assigned areas, as the work is performed primarily outdoors, year-round.
