Grounds Maintenance Laborer Supervisor - Finish Mowing

Perform duties to lead and supervise employees to maintain ground of industrial, commercial or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks and playgrounds; repair structures and equipment and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by maximizing the opportunities for participants with disabilities and other barriers to become more independent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers, trim hedges and edges around walks and flowerbeds using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools. Prune shrubs and trees to shape to improve growth using shears and other hand tools. Spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide.
2. Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs, watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or activating sprinkler system. Pick up and burn or cart away leaves, paper or other litter.
3. Load and unload trucks and other conveyances; move supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
4. Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails and outbuildings.
5. Assist with the repair of roads, walks, buildings and mechanical equipment. Clean comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing.
6. Train and supervise assigned staff. Assign and check work. Provide direction to staff and assist in the investigation and resolution of problems. Evaluate performance and provide counseling and coaching to employees.
7. Schedule and teach work in steps for employees with a diverse set of skills and requirements.
8.  Monitor safety compliance at job sites. and submit to Project Manager on designated days.

10. Operate company vehicle to transport employees to work locations.
11. Ensure actions and words communicate superior internal and external customer service.
12. Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed.

3. Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions are followed within area of responsibility, wear required personal protective equipment and clothing, and keep work area in clean and orderly condition.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

1. Prior finish mowing and supervisory experience required.
2. Experience operating and maintaining various lawn equipment.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Use walking/riding-type mowers, hedge trimmers, clippers, blower, weed-eater, edging tools, hand tools, brooms, mops, hoses and required personal protective equipment and clothing.
