Grounds Maintenance Worker

GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Grounds Maintenance Workers to support transportation and facilities operations across various locations in Virginia which includes Bristol, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Newport News, Suffolk, Surry, Salem, Lynchburg, Staunton, Culpeper & Richmond, VA within the Transportation Operations Division. The Grounds Maintenance Worker will perform routine preparatory tasks to assist skilled trade technicians, ensuring areas are ready for maintenance, repair, and other specialized services.

Preparatory Support

• Perform routine tasks to prepare areas for building and ground maintenance work.
  

• Support skilled trades such as painting, minor demolition, and related tasks.
  

• Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, materials, and equipment.
  

• Assist with upkeep and repairs as directed by supervisors and technicians.
  

• Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and safe.
  

• Follow established safety protocols and guidelines.
  

• Report any hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
  

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
  

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience and knowledge of basic trade areas.
  

• Ability to use techniques, tools, and equipment appropriate to maintenance tasks.
  

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License preferred or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
  

• Good communication and teamwork skills.
