Pay: $16.19 per hour


Shift / Schedule: Guaranteed 40 hours per week; 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday

PEMCCO is hiring a Grounds Maintenance Worker to support facility maintenance, repair, renovation, and industrial painting projects. Job Overview


PEMCCO is seeking a motivated and skilled Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of maintenance, repair, carpentry, construction, and industrial painting tasks.


In this role, you will help maintain buildings, facilities, structures, and equipment through preventative maintenance, painting and coating applications, carpentry repairs, renovations, and general facility improvement projects. You will work both independently and as part of a team while supporting a 24/7 operational environment that values safety, reliability, and craftsmanship.

What You'll Do



  • Construct, repair, and install cabinets, doors, floors, frameworks, trim, and other wooden fixtures

  • Cut, fit, and assemble wood and other construction materials for maintenance and repair projects

  • Operate woodworking equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively

  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces through cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, masking, and other surface preparation techniques

  • Apply industrial coatings, paints, primers, sealers, stains, and protective finishes to facilities, structures, equipment, and infrastructure assets

  • Inspect painted surfaces and coating systems to ensure proper coverage, adhesion, and quality standards

  • Safely operate paint sprayers, rollers, brushes, pressure washers, and related equipment

  • Assist with corrosion control and preservation efforts to help protect facilities and equipment from deterioration

  • Mix and match paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements

  • Remove damaged materials and perform repairs or replacements to maintain facility integrity

  • Install fixtures, hardware, windows, frames, flooring, and related building components

  • Erect and work from ladders and scaffolding when required

  • Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets specifications and performance standards

  • Calculate material requirements and support project planning efforts

  • Read work orders and follow project instructions from supervisors

  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all company safety requirements

  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of facility and infrastructure maintenance operations



What You Bring


Required Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial painting, building maintenance, facilities maintenance, carpentry, construction, demolition, or related trades

  • Valid Virginia Driver's License in good standing

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, painting equipment, and maintenance equipment

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Willingness to work in a physically active environment and varying weather conditions



Preferred Experience



  • Experience in commercial, industrial, transportation, or infrastructure maintenance environments

  • Experience with industrial painting, protective coatings, surface preparation, or corrosion prevention programs

  • Experience using paint sprayers, pressure washing equipment, and coating application tools

  • Experience with carpentry, facility repairs, and general construction activities

  • Experience working in a safety-sensitive environment

  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks effectively

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
