Job Summary:

The Site Supervisor – Grounds Maintenance is hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing all grounds maintenance operations at the assigned worksite. This role ensures that all groundskeeping activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with contractual obligations and company policies. The Site Supervisor manages the daily operations of the grounds maintenance team, coordinates tasks, enforces safety standards, and submits daily status reports to management. This is a working leadership role ideal for someone who is equally confident operating equipment and managing performance.

This position requires leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support a team in seasonal weather conditions while maintaining high-quality service and operational excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Daily Operations Oversight:

· Supervise all grounds maintenance activities, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and meet required quality standards.

· Oversee the completion of groundskeeping tasks, including mowing, edging, weeding, debris removal, irrigation, turf management, pesticide application, snow removal, conservation compliance, leaf blowing, flower removal, R&R, headstone cleaning and other landscaping duties.

· Ensure sufficient trained resources are available for marker stone maintenance (raise and realignment and cleaning)

· Assign and coordinate daily tasks for grounds maintenance staff, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.

· Monitor worksite conditions and ensure that all areas are maintained in accordance with contract requirements and company standards.

Staff Management and Support:

· Train new employees on proper groundskeeping techniques, safety protocols, and site-specific procedures. Ensure proper attire is worn and maintained.

· Provide ongoing support and supervision to team members, ensuring tasks are executed effectively.

· Monitor employee attendance, performance, and behavior, addressing concerns and reporting them to management.

· Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily tasks, safety updates, and priorities.

· Ensure all employees are aware of the protocols and decorum required of a VA National Cemetery.

· Maintain a bench strength of qualified candidates for future hires.

Compliance and Reporting:

· Ensure strict adherence to company policies, safety procedures, Employee Handbook and contract requirements.

· Conduct daily site inspections to ensure all tasks meet quality, safety, and contract standards.

· Complete and submit daily status reports that include:

o A summary of tasks completed

o Any operational issues encountered

o Safety concerns or incidents

o Overall site conditions and observations

· Promptly report any operational issues, incidents, or safety concerns to management.

· Attend regularly scheduled management meetings and be prepared to report on the status of your project.

Client and Site Coordination:

· Maintain regular communication with client representatives (contract officer, VA site foreman, contract officer representatives) to address operational concerns and meet site-specific needs.

· Ensure that all services are delivered according to contractual obligations and client expectations.

· Be prepared to support special client projects (flag planting) per the SOW.

Equipment and Facility Maintenance:

· Oversee the proper use and maintenance of groundskeeping tools and equipment.

· Ensure all equipment functions properly, and report malfunctions or issues to management. Conduct daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.

· Monitor supply inventory levels and coordinate with management to replenish materials as needed. Maintain equipment inventory lists and secure all company owned equipment daily.

Work Environment:

This position requires working outdoors in various weather and wildlife conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. The role is physically demanding and involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying heavy objects. The Site Supervisor is expected to maintain professionalism and respect when interacting with team members, clients, and visitors.

Experience and Qualifications:

· Prior supervisory experience and work crew scheduling on a government contract

· OSHA 10 and 30 qualifications a plus

· Contractor license a plus

· Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

· Experience with National Cemetery operations and military customs, traditions and courtesies

· Prior honorable military service a plus
