GROUNDSKEEPING MANAGER | FULL TIME 

In the role of Groundskeeping Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Facilities Director in maintaining the overall appearance and upkeep of primarily the outdoor areas of the Academy Mapleton Hill (AMH) community. This role supervises and schedules the groundskeeping crew to ensure the entire property is well maintained.

Responsibilities 

• Study, evaluate and become an authority with respect to the AMH campus layout and the many components related to maintaining the associated grounds 
• Communicate effectively with staff to coordinate and prioritize daily tasks  
• Keep detailed records of maintenance schedules and tasks completed 
• Plant, maintain, and remove plants, flowers, and trees 
• Water, fertilize, mow, edge and trim lawns and landscaped areas 
• Prune and shape bushes and trees following best practices 
• Remove debris and litter from grounds 
• Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools 
• Perform irrigation repairs and adjustments, including water features and landscape irrigation. 
• Prepare and maintain flower beds and gardens seasonally  
• Repair and maintain hardscapes, walls, walkway and other structures on the grounds 
• Clean and maintain chemical balance in the pool and spa 
• Manage and participate in the removal of snow and ice from walkways and roads within the community 
• Hire, train, manage and develop new and existing departmental employees 
• Maintain each employee record and perform annual performance reviews in conformance with AMH policies   
• In conjunction with the Facilities Director, manage outside contractors to support maintenance initiatives 
• Manage the department within the financial boundaries of the annual operating budget 

Qualifications 

• Proven experience working as a groundskeeper or similar role  
• Knowledge of advanced horticulture practices and principles 
• Familiarity with groundskeeping equipment and tools 
• Physical stamina and strength; able to lift and carry 60 lbs. and move heavy equipment 
• Experience in effectively managing a team 
• Possess a valid driving license 
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment 
• Ability to work flexible hours, and occasional holidays, as required 
• Effective verbal and written communication skills 
• Honesty and integrity  
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines 

Education and Experience 

• High school diploma or equivalent  
• Master Gardener certification a plus 
• Proficiency in English; Spanish a plus
