Job Description - GSS Pore Pressure Analyst

The GSS Pore Pressure Analyst is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable PSD to customers. The GSS Pore Pressure Analyst identifies opportunities to improve service delivery, implements standard work, and manages risk during service delivery. This person monitors the well to provide timely information to our customers; maintain sensors, equipment, and data acquisition equipment; and delivers high quality data to the customer at the wellsite. Together, we create amazing technology that unlocks access to energy for the benefit of all.\n\nThis is a Client facing role, candidate will work in both SLB and the clients office in Houston, Tx. \n\nRoles and Responsibilities\n\n * Be familiar with customer drilling plan, pre-drill pore pressure prediction, structural geology\n\n\n\nand pressure generation mechanisms which may be present.\n\n * Meet appropriate client personnel and attend pre-spud meeting if possible.\n * Confirm and plan for location at well site, if at wellsite. Preferably close to LWD and Mud\n\n\n\nLogging units.\n\n * Confirm WITSML server data streaming from LWD tools and any other streaming data source\n\n\n\nsuch as mud logging data (Gas, ROP etc...). Always have backup solution (webserver, USB stick).\n\n * Ensure that everyone on the various teams (Operator, Driller, SLB, GSS ML, Others)\n\n\n\nunderstands the role and responsibilities of the PreVue Analyst while both onshore and\n\noffshore.\n\n * Calculate vertical stress from Bulk Density (RHOB) and/or velocity data. Check if water depth\n\n\n\nis correct and edit RHOB values for salt or carbonates if necessary. Ensure vertical stress profile is supported by all available data.\n\n * Calculate shale pore pressures from LWD, Mechanical, and Shale Density data (GR, Res and/or\n\n\n\nSonic, D-exponent, RHOB) using the current model (i.e., calibrated to all available data points),\n\ncompare it with the pre-drill predictions and identify deviations.\n\n * Calculate fracture gradient from real-time pore pressure and vertical stress using the current\n\n\n\nmodel (i.e., calibrated to all available data points), compare it with the pre-drill predictions and\n\nidentify deviations.\n\n * Update pressure and fracture models as new information (LOT\u2019s, MDTs, RFTs, WL data, etc.)\n\n\n\nbecomes available. All changes to the models, for calibration purposes, should be reviewed\n\nand approved by the Client Team before publishing a report on pore pressure estimations for\n\nthe project.\n\n * Consult pre-drill PPFG predictions frequently and insert plots in all reports.\n * Provide a prognosis as to what magnitudes of pore pressure and fracture gradients are\n\n\n\nexpected ahead of the bit (if offset wells and seismic data are available).\n\n * Identify potential hazards if current drilling practices are continued over the next 24 hours.\n * Gather and summarize all other relevant pore pressure indicators (back ground vs. connection\n\n\n\ngas, ROP, caving, etc.). This data should be used to support the pore pressure models.\n\n * Compute gas ratios to identify if related to underbalance environment or wellbore breathing.\n * In the event of influx or losses, gather and summarize all indicators. Give special attention to possible prior indicators or decisions made that may have caused the event.\n * Determine from all sources available where the influx or losses are occurring, and the\n * mechanism of losses.\n * Use this data and information to calibrate the pore pressure and fracture gradient\n * models.\n * Analyze LOT\u2019s and summarize interpretation and update Fracture Gradient model along with\n * Fracture Closure pressures/EMW. Ensure all latest model updates and interpretations are\n * communicated to the Client Team offshore and in town.\n * Using ESD and ECD, inform drilling supervisor if wellbore pressure is outside the PP-FG window\n\n\n\nin the open hole.\n\n * The compensation and reference to benefits for this role is listed on this posting in compliance with applicable law. The selected candidate\u0027s compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note that the compensation and benefits listed below are only applicable to successful candidates who are hired onto local payroll. \n * At SLB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at/near the top of the range. The anticipated annual compensation range for this position is 90k-125K.\n * Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without visa sponsorship.\n\n\n\nSLB offers competitive compensation and benefits programs which include variable pay, health care coverage, retirement plan, protection coverage, time off and leave programs, and training and development opportunities.\n\nQualifications and Experience\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in Geology or Engineering.\n * 10 years\u2019 experience as a Pore Pressure Analyst\n * Must have the legal right to work in the US without Visa sponsorship.\n\n\n
