Job Description - Guardianship Auditor I

JOB DESCRIPTION


Guardianship Auditor



General Description:


Performs, reviews, and audits of guardianship papers, including reports, inventories, and accountings, pursuant to Florida Statutes and Clerk’s office policies and procedures.



 This General Description is not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed.  Employees will be required to perform other job related duties as required.



Essential Job Functions:



  • Interact professionally with customers via telephone, email, or in person, to provide support and information.

  • Apply rules and procedures pertaining to the Clerk’s functions and responsibilities in the assigned department.

  • Perform tasks relevant to guardianship reviews and audits, including but not limited to:

    • Collecting and analyzing data;

    • Researching; and

    • Writing and presenting audit reports



  • Manage projects within the budgeted time frame.

  • Prepare general correspondence, as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:



  • Knowledge and command of business English, spelling, arithmetic, computer skills, and office practices and procedures.

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, auditing standards, and internal controls.

  • Knowledge or ability to learn governmental financial accounting principles and internal auditing practices and procedures.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft products, including Word and Excel.

  • Ability to comply with State Statutes and Clerk’s Office Rules and Regulations.

  • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, government officials, and the public.

  • Ability to understand and carry out complex verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, automated environment with many interruptions.

  • Ability to handle case material of a sensitive nature.

  • Possess skills to necessary to analyze data and to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action



Education and Experience:


Possession of a high school equivalency diploma issued by a State Department of Education or the United States Armed Forces.  Four years of direct experience or alternatively, graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or a related field. Some experience with guardianship auditing preferred, but not required.

  • Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)

  • Acceptable hearing (with or without correction)

  • Ability to communicate with others to exchange information.

  • Prolonged periods in a stationary position, often at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Repetitive motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • Ability to move about to accomplish tasks or to move from one worksite to another.

  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.

  • Ability to adjust, move, or lift objects up to 30 pounds in all directions.

  • Type at a minimum rate of 35 words per minute.

Work is performed in an office environment. Some travel may be required.
