Gymnastics Instructor
Job Description
Summary:
The Gymnastics Instructor is responsible for teaching recreational gymnastics classes to participants ages 5–10, with safety and proper technique as the primary focus. Instructors typically work 4–6 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years old with a minimum of two (2) years of gymnastics experience. Must be able to work independently and use good judgment, with excellent communication and leadership skills. Weekend availability is required. CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications must be obtained within three (3) months of employment. Gymnastics Safe Sport Certification must be acquired by February 1, and the Park District will cover the cost of the certification.
Supervisor:
The Gymnastics Instructor reports to the Gymnastics Coordinator and the Recreation Supervisor.

Psychological Considerations:
The Gymnastics Instructor is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and positive learning environment. Must demonstrate patience and the ability to motivate participants of all ages and skill levels. May need to respond calmly and effectively in stressful or emergency situations.
Environmental Considerations:
Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting supplies, noise, dust, gymnastics chalk, and elevation.
May be required to lift and/or move equipment up to 50 pounds.
Cognitive Considerations:
Must possess good safety awareness and sound judgment. Must be friendly and enjoy working with children and families. Must be able to follow directions, listen, speak, and communicate effectively. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
