Hall Monitor

Position Summary: A hall monitor oversees the general safety of a school's common areas. Hall monitors help provide a safe learning environment for the students, teachers, and other school staff. 

Essential Accountabilities:

• Patrol the halls of the school to ensure that all students are in their classes and any students who aren't in class have a proper hall pass.
• Report negative behavior and student harassment
• Ability to motivate and provide encouragement to children of all ages and all backgrounds.
• A warm and approachable personality.
• Ability to work well with a team. 
• Ability to remain patient and calm under pressure.
• Follow and maintain knowledge of all NACS policy(ices) and procedures. 
• Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required. 
• Relevant duties as assigned by school administration.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Qualifications:

• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong decision-making skills relative to the position.
• The ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
• Required criminal history background check, pre-employment sexual misconduct/child abuse disclosure, and proof of United States citizenship or legal resident alien status. 

Working Conditions: Work is predominantly in the multi-purpose room/classroom, school environment. Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels. Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.

Physical Requirements: There are physical aspects of this position to successfully carry out essential job functions such as ability to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, and equipment up to 30 pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, see, hear, and speak daily. Employees in this classification may be subject to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work-related hazards.
