Job Summary: The Harris Assistant Site Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the successful operation of both the shelter and housing components of the Harris facility. This position supports the Shelter Manager and Regional Director in daily operations, staff and tenant oversight, compliance, property management, and strategic leadership. The Harris Assistant Site Manager upholds and models the mission, vision, and guiding principles of Switchpoint, providing a safe, clean, and compassionate environment for clients and staff.


Requirements

Job Responsibilities: 

Shelter & Housing Operations 

  • Support daily operations of the Harris facility, including both shelter and housing programs. 
  • Supervise shelter and housing staff, ensuring consistency in expectations, communication, and daily procedures. 
  • Conduct room and facility checks, including safety, cleanliness, and compliance inspections. 
  • Respond to audits and ensure continual quality improvement, including licensing, OSHA, fire safety, and regulatory compliance. 

Staff Supervision & Team Leadership 

  • Provide leadership and oversight to front-line shelter and housing teams. 
  • Assist in training, scheduling, coverage, and performance management. 
  • Fill staffing gaps and provide operational coverage as needed. 
  • Model calm, professional behavior and strong boundaries at all times. 
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with department heads to ensure strategic alignment. 

Client & Tenant Management 

  • Ensure compliance with shelter rules and housing lease agreements, issuing warnings or disciplinary actions as necessary. 
  • Collaborate with Case Management team to support client/tenant progress and maintain accountability. 
  • Address resident complaints and escalate unresolved issues appropriately. 
  • Monitor resident/tenant chores, behavior, and contributions to the facility community 

Financial & Budget Oversight 

  • Support facility budget management, including review of Profit & Loss statements. 
  • Collect and process rent payments from tenants and ensure timely follow-up on delinquencies or lease violations. 
  • Work with the Regional Director to manage expenses, reduce turnover, and maximize efficiency while maintaining service quality. 
  • Assist in procurement of supplies, equipment, and services. 

Property & Facility Management 

  • Oversee building maintenance issues by coordinating with the maintenance department. 
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe facility environment (indoors and outdoors). 
  • Ensure all kitchen operations are compliant with Utah Department of Health standards. 
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer and Kitchen Managers on volunteer coordination and meal service execution 

Communication & Coordination 

  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Shelter Manager, Regional Director, and other departments. 
  • Coordinate across departments for successful execution of activities, services, and programs. 
  • Maintain and update shelter/housing bulletin boards, postings, and sign-up sheets. 
  • Perform general office duties including answering phones, correspondence, and recordkeeping. 

Leadership & Strategic Planning 

  • Provide input into hiring of key staff and onboarding of new employees. 
  • Review business and program reports (KPIs) and suggest improvements. 
  • Lead or assist in short and long-term planning for the Harris facility. 
  • Represent Switchpoint’s values when engaging with clients, staff, vendors, and community partners. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Services, or related field preferred; Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience required. 
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience, ideally in shelter, housing, human services, or property management. 
  • Strong knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and substance use issues. 
  • Experience managing residential environments and/or multifamily properties. 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and ability to learn proprietary systems. 
  • Compassionate, adaptable, and committed to serving low- and extremely low-income populations. 
  • Valid Utah Driver’s License required. 
  • Available to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.

Compensation 

Wage range between $21-$24/hour
