Vermeer Southeast is seeking a motivated and technically skilled individual to serve as a key support resource for our outside sales team, service shop, and HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) customers. This role involves training customers on the operation of drills, locators, vacs, and plows; preparing and delivering equipment for demos and sales; supporting trade shows and HDD training classes; and assisting customers both on-site and at our location. The ideal candidate will have experience operating HDD equipment, strong communication skills, and a Class A CDL. This is a customer-facing position with opportunities to grow into equipment diagnostics, product demonstrations, and expanded support responsibilities.
What you'll do
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
Train and support our directional drilling customers how to operate drills, locators, vacs, & plows
Prep drills and mix tanks for demo / delivery
Deliver equipment for outside sales team as needed
Assist customers that want to meet as at the shop to look at equipment when outside rep cannot be there
Assist with signing up, setting up, and working shows
Assist with HDD classes and simulator training as needed
Look for parts and service opportunities with accounts by reviewing account before calling them and then promoting our parts and service department to them
Visit HDD job sites proactively to support our customers
Knowledge of Vermeer tooling for directional drills
Secondary Responsibilities:
Take Vermeer University classes on how to repair drills. Long term goal of being able to help diagnose repair needs on the job site and in the shop
Utilize our CRM to proactively call customers on rainy days
Run equipment to other Vermeer Southeast locations as needed
Maintain a Class A CDL and Air Brakes endorsement in order
Assist shop as requested
Potentially assist in selling/demonstrating some of the Yanmar product line in future
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma/GED required
2 Years of directional boring experience preferred
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to operate a directional drill, vac, locator, mini excavator, and plow
Proficient with common computer programs, including Microsoft Office & Excel
Excellent communication skills in person & on phone
Class A CDL required
Air Brakes endorsement preferred
Ability to work flexible hours at times (before 7 and after 5)
