Our client, a renowned restaurant located along the picturesque Spinola Bay in St Julian’s, is seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to lead its kitchen team.
The restaurant celebrates authentic Maltese culinary heritage, bringing traditional recipes and locally inspired dishes to life in a contemporary dining environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in preserving and elevating Maltese cuisine while ensuring exceptional quality, creativity, and consistency across the menu.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full kitchen operation, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
Develop and refine menus inspired by traditional Maltese and Mediterranean cuisine.
Manage kitchen staff, including training, supervision, and performance management.
Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality dishes in line with kitchen standards.
Monitor and control food costs, kitchen budgets, and resource usage.
Maintain strict adherence to HACCP standards and food safety regulations.
Ensure high levels of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation within the kitchen.
Work closely with management to maintain and enhance the restaurant’s culinary reputation.
Requirements
Proven experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a leadership role.
Passion for high-quality Mediterranean and Maltese cuisine.
Strong background in traditional Maltese culinary practices.
Excellent teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
Fluency in English and Maltese.
Currently residing in Malta, with a valid work permit for non-EU nationals.
Clean police conduct certificate.

We are currently looking for a full-time Head Chef for our Gululu restaurant in Spinola Bay, St. Julian’s.
The salary offered ranges between €2,842.90 and €3,242.90 gross per month. Although the Head Chef is not entitled to overtime, we offer a €450 quarterly bonus, as well as a share of tips.
We are seeking candidates who are already based in Malta, are knowledgeable about Maltese cuisine and have previous experience in a similar role.
