Job Description - Head Coach - Women's Soccer

Description

Job Objective:
Establish and maintain a highly competitive intercollegiate Women's Soccer program at the NCAA DII level while supporting the mission of the institution.

Job Responsibilities

Soccer

  1. Direct all facets of the soccer program including recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, hiring staff, team selection, equipment purchase, fund raising, designing and implementing a system of play.
  2. Oversee player development both on and off the playing field.  (Academic progress, spiritual growth, socialization skills, etc.)
  3. Hire, supervise and lead assistant coaches.
  4. As a member of the Athletics Department, Head Coaches are responsible for:
    1. Supporting NCAA compliance within the Department by promoting an atmosphere of compliance with NCAA rules within their programs and monitoring compliance by all assistant coaches and/or others involved with the program.
    2. Self-reporting any NCAA rules violations as soon as they are discovered.
    3. Participating in annual or more frequent continuing education programs regarding NCAA rules. 
    4. Maintaining current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.
    5. Abiding by all safety policies and procedures.
    6. Understanding that violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  5. Support and monitor the academic performance of student-athletes in the program.
  6. Adhere to RWU policies and procedures as well as ethical standards of behavior.
  7. Support the physical, emotional and social well-being of student-athletes in the program, including gender issues and ethnic diversity 
  8. Establish a safe environment for student-athletes (e.g., education on and methods for discussing and resolving harassment or discrimination).
  9. Participate in Conference, Region and National athletic organizations.
  10. Participate in organizing and hiring staff for soccer camp.  Develop a daily plan of learning and implement the plan.
  11. Coordinate travel, trip agendas and lodging.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Secondary Assignment – Event Coordinator

  1. Coordinate events with Sports Information
  2. Responsible for all home events
    1. Overseeing GA’s to make sure they are getting appropriate workers
    2. Overseeing student workers at home events
    3. Working with coaches to see what they need for home events
  3. Making sure officials get vouchers/paid
  4. Assuring student workers fill out time cards appropriately
  5. General oversight of game day
The approved salary for this position is $41,500.00/annually

Requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree.  Master's preferred.  Knowledge of the sport through experience, coaching, clinics, etc.  Two to three years coaching experience at the college level is preferred.  Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
