We are seeking a business-forward, systems-minded Head of Data to build and lead a world-class data function at Fruitist. This role is instrumental to our mission to scale intelligently and globally. You'll oversee our data strategy, tooling and governance to unlock enterprise value across operations, AI/ML, finance, commercial, supply chain, and more.
This is not just a technical leadership role—it’s a transformation mandate. We're looking for a data leader who brings deep experience driving change management, operational renewal, data maturity and entrepreneurship in high-growth, global environments.
We want to challenge our Head of Data to bring in new solutions, inclusive of AI agents to enable our business teams, as we work towards the next horizon of DataOps maturity.
Set the vision & strategy
Define and own Fruitist’s enterprise data strategy, platform roadmap, and governance framework working with business unit leadership
Build a data culture across the organization; establish North Star metrics and standards for data quality and trust
Introduce the industry latest tooling and AI capabilities to unlock operational efficiencies and accelerate team velocity
Build & scale data systems
Lead the design and development of a global data platform (data lakehouse, ingestion pipelines, architecture)
Drive foundational modernization (e.g., Azure, Databricks, Delta Lake, CI/CD) across all regions (Peru, Mexico, Morocco, U.S.)
Drive impact & value
Partner with analytics, AI/ML, ops, and business teams to unlock high-impact use cases (e.g., yield forecasting, pick timing, pricing, commercial allocation, etc.)
Lead the development and integration of data assets into core business processes and decision frameworks – building data as “products” for end user consumption
Lead & develop talent
Build and manage a high-performing data team (engineering, architecture, governance) working with internal and external partner talent
Foster cross-functional alignment with product, engineering, finance, agronomy, field operations, and commercial teams
Operate at scale
Ensure infrastructure is secure, scalable, and future-ready across markets and business lines
Lead cross-functional data initiatives and change management efforts globally
Tangential Industry Expertise
Experience working with data from ERP systems, bespoke applications, operational platforms and advanced analytics with exposure to CPG, retail, AgTech, logistics, or supply chain-intensive businesses
Global & Transformational Leadership
Proven success modernizing legacy systems and operating models in global, high-change environments
Brings people, process, and technology together—not just tech
Technical Depth
Strong background leading the design of data architecture, data models, warehousing (cloud-native), and interfacing with data science and BI teams using engineering best practices
Hands-on experience with AWS, Athena, Databricks/Snowflake, and scalable ML data pipelines/frameworks a plus
Worked on streaming or large data systems and architectures on a global level, with exposure to a variety of data formats including geospatial/remote sensing, weather/climate, or equivalently complex data types or scale
Business Acumen
Highly collaborative, deeply understands business value creation, and aligns data work to enterprise goals
Has coached and led internal stakeholders to new ways of working and unlock new capabilities
Executive Presence
Strong communicator, able to influence senior leadership and communicate complex data topics clearly
Experience interfacing with board members, investors, and cross-functional executives
Preferred Background
10+ years in data-related roles, with 3–5 years in leadership roles
Experience in both mature, scaled environments and high-growth settings
Public company, IPO, or SOX experience is a plus
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
