Head of Engineering Technology

• Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for Kabayan Remit’s platform.
  
• 
  Oversee the design and development of backend services built with PHP (Laravel) and Python.
  
  
• Ensure high standards in API architecture, security, and system scalability.
  
  
• Lead efforts to optimise MySQL/MongoDB and Redis databases for performance and reliability.
  
  
• Manage integrations with payment gateways and financial institutions.
  
• 
  Collaborate closely with Product, Compliance, and Operations teams to align technical solutions
  with business goals.
  
• 
  Guide and mentor engineering teams, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous
  improvement.
  
  
• Establish and enforce secure coding practices and compliance with financial regulations (e.g. PCI
  DSS, GDPR).
  
  
• Drive DevOps initiatives, improving CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  
  
• Oversee monitoring, incident management, and system reliability processes.
  

Requirements

• 
  8+ years of experience in backend engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or
  management role.
  
  
• Deep expertise in PHP (Laravel) and Python development.
  
• 
  Strong experience in designing and scaling RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  
  
• Advanced knowledge of MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
  
  
• Proven experience with AWS cloud services, infrastructure, and cost optimisation.
  
  
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern deployment pipelines.
  
• 
  Excellent understanding of secure coding and compliance in financial services
  

• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
  
  
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills.
  
  
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value.
  
• 
  Experience managing engineering roadmaps and prioritising resources in a fast-paced environment
  

• Experience working with payment processing systems.
  
• 
  Knowledge of financial transaction security standards (PCI DSS, GDPR).
  
• 
  Experience with message queue systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.).

  Background in fintech, remittance, or financial services platforms
