The Head of Operations for our Rail Infrastructure business is a critical leadership role responsible for the strategic planning, ongoing development, and improvement of our multiple manufacturing facilities. A vital part of the role establishes the Manufacturing strategy, policies, and guidelines per the overall strategic targets. You will delegate and work through the critical managers in production while interfacing and partnering with Project Management, Quality, Finance, Scheduling, Procurement, Engineering, Logistics, Human Resources, and Environmental, Health, and Safety to ensure business objectives align as you drive a culture of employee growth and development.

This position will find opportunities for operational excellence and sitewide engagement in related projects and drive lean methodology applying required operating procedures, standardized work instructions, and job safety analysis. The successful Head of Operations coaches and mentors employees under their supervision, providing training for essential topics such as risk mitigation, safety protocols, usage of new equipment, and industry standard methodologies

Who you are:

Trailblazer & Strategist – Drive operations leadership, demonstrating dedication to plant goals.
Collaborate with Project Management to provide quoting and new business development activities (cost estimating, plant capacity, etc.).
Accountable for operational expenses, resource allocation, and delivering on budget targets.
Utilization of operational metrics to optimally track, monitor, and implement required improvement activities related to the business plan, goals, and issues.
Facilitate, coach, counsel, and guide production management, continuously delivering results year after year.
Compliance Chief – Embody a safety mentality and advance the safety culture while demonstrating industry standard methodologies and financial analysis to recommend solutions to enhance operations performance while improving cost position.
Drive process excellence in every step of the production process, driving continuous improvement to all site metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Cost, and People).
Change Champion– Be a futurist and create the latest developments in competitive technology, EH&S, and team development. Promote Ownership Culture - Educate, develop, and empower a production workgroup to achieve required production results.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Ensures long-term planning of production resources and derives the respective business and investment plans for all sites.
Oversees and manages all critical Manufacturing programs and initiates and oversees continuous development of Manufacturing infrastructure.
Ensures effective production technologies and logistics processes in the plants assigned.
Drive improvements in quality, cost reductions, and time to market
Oversees manufacturing to ensure product quality, optimal resource utilization, and on-time delivery - including oversight of safety and performance objectives
Initiate, drive, and participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities.

To thrive in this role, you have:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and Advanced in Manufacturing is a plus (M.S. or Ph.D.)
Minimum of 10+ years as a Manufacturing Manager/Director
Excellence in performing Data Analysis, Risk Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Method Application, Process Validations, Capacity Planning, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
Experience using manufacturing technologies, factory automation technology, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Excellent process development capabilities
Proficient in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
Proficiency in interpreting documentation such as drawings, schematics, engineering and inspection requirements, and BOMs
Discernment & financial literacy: knowing how strategies and decisions impact financial, operational, and sales results
Decision-making in high-pressure situations
