Head Start Substitute Staff - Redwood County (#1024I-EV)

JOB STATUS: On-call demand - number of work hours vary.

RESPONSIBILITIES: To work together with the Head Start staff providing comprehensive Head Start experiences that meet the requirements of the Head Start Performance Standards. To empower parents as team members in a comprehensive approach to child development and self-sufficiency.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Assist with implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, and physical development of children.


• Assist with health, nutrition, and safety tasks.


• Assist with janitorial duties.


• Assist with transportation activities.


• Perform required record keeping.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.


• Obtained high school diploma or GED.


• CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.


• Demonstrated interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


• Ability to follow problem-solving and conflict resolution strategies.


• Knowledge and understanding of issues faced by low-income people in the nine-county area.  


• Ability to travel within and out of the service area for meetings, workshops, and conferences.


• Reliable, regular attendance.


• Reliable mode of transportation.


• Knowledge and understanding of child development.


• Demonstrated problem solving or conflict resolution skills.


• Must complete a satisfactory Background Study.


• Must have satisfactory completion of medical exam and health screenings as requested per Head Start regulations.
