Head Start Teacher Assistant - Unlimited Growth Potential

Our client is an amazing non-profit organization that provides early child-care services to those of low-income communities, throughout California. They have multiple locations, Chatsworth, Van Nuys, Arleta, and other locations in the valley.

We are searching for an aspiring and smart Head Start Teacher Assistant to join our client.

This is a full-time, temporary position until June.
Regular shift Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 5:45 pm (Overtime offered)
If you are not able, hours can be Monday to Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm

While under the direction and supervision of the Head Start Teacher, you will be responsible for promoting activities in the classroom that are designed to simulate learning, encourage family engagement, and develop individual goals for the children.

You will also be working with the teacher in helping to execute daily classroom plans and maintain a fun and safe environment for everyone.

You will also:

• Provide ongoing assessment of progress and facilitate transition activities into kindergarten.
• Developing goals for the children and curriculum for age-appropriate activities (indoors or outdoors)
• Supporting the curriculum to meet all children's needs (ex. special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse)
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, which includes sanitizing all toys and classroom equipment.
• Prepare classroom materials supporting appropriate activities (classroom and home)
• Support the daily routine and functions of the classroom to make sure everything is working properly.
• Conduct required parent/teacher conferences to establish individual goals, class progress, and more.
• Participate in meetings, make referrals, active assessments, and provide goal planning for the term.
• Maintain confidentiality for all data, records, and information regarding the program.

This is what we are looking for in your candidacy:

• You have at least, 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or similar
• You have at least 6 months of experience working with families and children in a preschool setting, or other related work experience in child development.
• You hold a valid First Aid and CPR certificate within 30 days of hire.
• You hold and maintain a current California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Teacher Permit or above based on the CTC Matrix upon hire or apply within 60 days of hire.
• You can keep calm in an emergency.
• You are open to occasional travel, including meetings, training, and sponsored events.
