Job Description - Head Women's Volleyball Coach

Head Coach Women’s Volleyball


 Lyon College invites applications for an appointment as the full-time head coach of its women’s volleyball program. The primary responsibilities of the head coach include conducting practices, scheduling games, and recruiting for the women’s volleyball program. Additional responsibilities include teaching a limited number of physical education courses and other duties as assigned. Applicants must have a combination of at least five years of collegiate volleyball coaching or playing experience and an understanding of recruiting student athletes at a small, liberal arts college. A bachelor’s degree is required with a preference for a master’s degree. 


Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, and competitive goals for the team, focusing on skill development and performance improvement.

  • Provide instruction in all aspects of volleyball, including serving, hitting, blocking, defense, and game tactics.

  • Conduct regular evaluations of players’ performance and provide feedback to enhance their development both individually and as a team.

  • Teach and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for others.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment plan to identify and attract prospective student-athletes who are a good fit for the college’s academic and athletic environment.



  • Attend high school games, club tournaments, and recruiting events to scout and evaluate talent.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree (preferred) in a related field.

  • Previous coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, particularly at the Division III level (if applicable).

  • Proven experience in recruiting and developing student-athletes in a competitive environment.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • A commitment to academic and personal development of student-athletes in line with the values of a liberal arts institution.
