POSITION SUMMARY:

The Healing to Wellness Coordinator assesses participant needs, develops case plans, and provides ongoing case management services within State and Tribal Courts. Acting as a liaison between the court, clients, families, and service providers, the Coordinator prepares court reports, maintains files, and documents interactions. The role also includes conducting drug and alcohol assessments and participating in staffing and court hearings to ensure compliance and program effectiveness.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage case files and ensure clients’ needs are met throughout the program.
• Prepare detailed trial reports and verify background information for individuals charged with tribal substance or criminal offenses.
• Analyze collected information and provide comprehensive reports to the judge prior to initial hearings.
• Participate in staffing sessions and Healing to Wellness Court hearings.
• Support defendants in complying with court-ordered conditions.
• Notify the court and relevant authorities of any observed violations during supervision.
• Develop and execute case plans, provide case management services, prepare court reports, and maintain case files. Serve as the liaison between participants, families, and service providers.
• Collaborate on the development of participants’ treatment plans, meeting with participants, families, and treatment providers.
• Present presentence reports and recommend appropriate sentencing to the court.
• Conduct and maintain drug and alcohol assessments.
• Maintain regular communication with offenders via office visits, community outreach, and phone.
• Respond to inquiries from individuals and organizations regarding offenders’ behavior and program conditions.
• Keep accurate, detailed records of case activities to ensure accountability and compliance.
• Engage in community outreach efforts to raise awareness of the program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Strong time management skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining composure.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and the public.
• In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures related to Pre-Trial and Healing to Wellness services.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and case management software.
• Skilled in conducting drug and alcohol assessments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively and empathetically with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining accurate case records and documentation.
• Collaborative team player, experienced in working with multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes.
• Knowledge of community resources and support services available to defendants.
• Strong decision-making ability, with the capacity to manage caseloads efficiently and make sound judgments under pressure.
• Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging situations with participants, families, or service providers in a calm and effective manner.
• Understanding and sensitivity to the cultural backgrounds and needs of participants, with the ability to tailor approaches to effectively serve diverse populations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Paralegal or Legal Assistant certification from an accredited institution preferred.
• Minimum of two years of professional experience in the legal, judicial, or social services field, with direct involvement in case management, court proceedings, or related duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, as needed for office supplies and materials.
• Capable of using office equipment such as computers, phones, and fax machines.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing.
• Ability to travel locally for meetings, court hearings, and other work-related activities.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Successful completion of applicable tribal drug test.
• Successful completion of applicable tribal background check.
• Must pass background investigation for suitability of character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations.
