A well-established mining operation based in Gouverneur, NY is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Coordinator. This role will focus on ensuring workplace safety and regulatory compliance, developing proactive health and safety strategies, and promoting a positive safety culture across all departments.
Ensure compliance with MSHA regulations and internal safety procedures.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies and programs.
Deliver and coordinate safety education and training programs.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments.
Perform safety inspections in underground and surface work environments.
Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
Participate in MSHA inspections and respond to regulatory inquiries.
Recommend and implement control measures to reduce risk.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MSHA and other relevant federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
Schedule and track annual physicals and hearing tests.
Assist with the preparation of weekly and monthly H&S reports.
Maintain detailed records of training, inspections, and investigations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reinforce a strong safety-first culture.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a safety-focused role, preferably in the mining or heavy industrial sectors.
Strong understanding of MSHA regulations and workplace safety compliance.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
Proficiency in using computers for communication, reporting, and record-keeping.
MSHA Trainer Certification preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal in English).
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
