Health Educator - Urgent Hire

Job Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an HIV Health Educator. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs and outreach initiatives aimed at preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and promoting overall health and wellness within our community. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in public health or social work, with a commitment to advocating for vulnerable populations and reducing stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and facilitate educational workshops, training sessions, and presentations on HIV prevention, transmission, testing, and treatment options.
2. Collaborate with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to coordinate outreach events and initiatives.
3. Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions to provide support, information, and resources to individuals living with HIV/AIDS and those at risk of infection.
4. Distribute educational materials, including brochures, flyers, and online resources, to raise awareness and promote healthy behaviors.
5. Advocate for policies and programs that address the social determinants of health and improve access to HIV prevention and care services.
6. Stay updated on current research, trends, and best practices in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment to inform program development and implementation.
7. Maintain accurate records and documentation of program activities, participant demographics, and outcomes for reporting purposes.
8. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in HIV education and advocacy.
9. Provide referrals to healthcare providers, support services, and community resources as needed.
10. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that respects the dignity, confidentiality, and cultural diversity of all individuals.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
2. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS epidemiology, prevention strategies, and treatment options.
3. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with diverse populations.
4. Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, preferably in the field of HIV/AIDS education or public health.
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
6. Sensitivity to issues related to stigma, discrimination, and social justice impacting individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
8. Certification in HIV counseling, testing, or related areas is a plus.
9. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for outreach events and community engagement activities.
